Evan William Plunkett

Evan William Plunkett transforms an ordinary space into a suspended, dreamlike moment. Known for his innovative "photo impressionism," he blends long exposures, existing light, and intentional camera movement to capture the atmosphere of a place rather than its literal form. They are more than photographs; they are cinematic pauses in time—visual narratives where memory, reality, and imagination converge, inviting viewers to experience the fluidity of presence and the passage of time.

"Color, composition, and expression shaped my way of seeing and continue to guide my artistic evolution."

His work has been featured in many juried exhibitions, publications, and on the cover of SHOTS magazine, and is held in numerous private collections. He has published three monographs: Statements in Passing (2017), Landscapes (2019), and First Impressions (2023).

Based in Putney, Vermont, Plunkett grew up in New Jersey, Connecticut, Texas, and Massachusetts, and studied Political Science at the University of Miami.

Alongside his artistic practice, Plunkett is a social justice and environmental advocate, serving on the board of the Doris Wilderness Foundation, Inc., an NGO dedicated to preserving and rewilding critical ecosystems.
